New York style Pizza is good, but it’s a matter of preference. New York style pizza is a thin crust very large sliced style. Try City Pie on 72nd street for a great NY style pizza. Their stromboli are to die for.

Great food and wine can be found right throughout SA, if you’re staying in Adelaide and want to take a day trip up to the hills, there are some fantastic wineries up there. The best thing i could suggest would be to just take a drive up there, and just start calling into wineries, last time we took a day trip we were given a map that had probably 40-50 wineries on it and we just visited a few of them, before having a picnic at the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens. I would probably steer away from any guided tours (unless you really need a driver:) as personally i’d prefer to visit some of the smaller wineries (if i may suggest Hahndorf Hill Wines for a great tasting experience.
I’d also suggest the same with the barossa valley area, again, drive down there (probably 45minutes from the city) there’s a heap of wineries down there and they’re all really, really well signed. Chateau Tanunda is a great example of the caliber of wineries that can be found. Again i would steer towards the smaller wineries, all credit to the giant wineries out there, they have helped to build an industry, but some of these independent wineries are simply put, amazing.
Most, if not all of the cellar door sales will offer some local fare, particularly in the way of local cheese plates and fruit.
Also if you have the time there are some great wineries to be found in the Riverland (about 2&1/2 hours north of Adelaide, well northish), if i could suggest Pennyfield wines, who have a cellar door/ cafe in Berri, located right on the banks of the River Murray, a great place to loose an afternoon.
Finally the best advice i could give you would be to take your time and enjoy, there really is some sensational wine areas around here, and I have completely neglected to mention any of the Limestone Coast, only because i haven’t quite gotten around to visiting them yet (we keep getting stuck where we know:)
Hope this helps,
Enjoy.

Pretty much it is truly a case of where not to go.

There are great wineries in the Tamar Valley (although better get in quick before Gunns pulp mill wrecks the place!). Pipers river and pipers brook areas, even Frankford to name just a few fantastic areas with half hour or so drive of Lonny. Head toward Devonport and you find all of the award winning cheese places and Anvers hand made chocolates too.

The great thing about tassie is that you could stop in the most remote and isolated places and get award winning food. I suggest that you take your time and eat your way right around the state. Strahan and far NW coast have some great places too… Hmmm too many to mention, you will just have to come and try them out.

People who also get cash checks like TEA (AFDC) can choose to have that money put on the card..then they don’t have to worry about the checks getting lost, etc. You can NOT buy beer with food stamps..However, they can use the cash option to buy beer. It stinks. I know. I just moved in with my mom to save money and they cut my food stamps $20 a month (I am paying more rent here). I now get $15 a month..I am on SSI/SS disability.. It’s not fair. Politicians really don’t care because they don’t have to live on “assistance”. Wish I had the answer.

Income proof such as pay check stubs from the prior month or any other income received like child support from every working adult in the home ( income limit depends on what state you live in and how many people are in your household) If self employed then they may want proof from the last two months and also expenses incurred from self employment; bills you are responsible for such as mortgage or rent, power, water, telephone, medical expenses child support paid , child care expenses etc…. From the month prior; also social security cards for everyone who lives in the home. If he doesn’t have everything the social worker will let him know what else needs to be turned in; also banking information such as checking or savings account and any stock, annuities and life insurance policies ; vehicle information; it’s nice to see that there are people like you who are willing to help others…give yourself a pat on the back! To the guy below me: you do not have to be a minority to receive assistance but it helps if you have children, also you said you wouldn’t fill out the paper work because it was a stack of them? You should at least try to fill those papers out and a social worker will help you obtain all necessary info if needed.
Food Pyramid?

I’ve tried eating according to the food pyramid guidelines. But it seems like so much food each day I feel absolutely stuffed by the end of it. What would you recommend I do?

taster answers:

You don’t need to eat more food than you are comfortable eating; in fact, many food experts think it is better to under eat (for long life, at least). The pyramid is meant to be a guide to the types of food that are good for you, that provide good nutrition. One of the main rules is to eat a variety of foods, such as different coloured fruits and vegetables for vitamins, starch for enough calories to get through the day, and protein for cellular repair. Whichever pyramid you are using (there are several, and many are very good; they tend to change by what is on nutritionists’ minds in a given decade), it is designed to allow you to balance your intake in a way that’s right for you and your age and activity level. Ideally, you would just eat a scoop less of mashed potatoes, one less carrot, one piece of chicken instead of two, cutting out from each category rather than cutting out whole categories–unless of course it’s fried foods or ice cream, which some of us could stand to eat less of–I’m not mentioning any names here, but I might be one.

Okay so the food pyramid with the 6 food groups are suppose to keep you eating healthy.
I think the food pyramid is out dated. Its different for everyone. It depends on your height, weight, and activity. If your a kid or teenager, and your active you might need more carbohydrates, and certain food groups because your active and still growing. It also depends mainly on your metabolism. Some people need more servings of grain then others, to keep them going. For example, i eat A LOT of good carbs, and i am on the thin side. They are right however, it is important to exercise atleast 30 minutes a day.
